Part 1: ON THE ERRORS OF ROMAN CATHOLICISM IN THE LIGHT OF THE HOLY SCRIPTURE———-

I deal in this posting the errors or false teachings of Roman Catholicism as counterfeit in nature based on the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and His apostles revealed in the Holy Bible.
The Lord Jesus Christ upholds His doctrine not any church doctrine like Roman Catholic Church. ” Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.” JOHN 7:16-18
The apostle Paul warned and prophesied on the unsound doctrine taught by false teachers and religion noted in the last days. 2 TIMOTHY 4:3-5, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But, watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.”

THE FOLLOWING ARE THE UNSCRIPTURAL ERRORS OF ROMAN CATHOLIC FALSE TEACHINGS AND ITS TRADITIONS:

  1. VATICAN II COUNCIL of the 1960s-false teaching that sacred Scripture and sacred church tradition are equally to be revered and given devotion for doctrine and practice.
“Sacred Tradition and sacred Scripture, then, are bound closely together, and communicate one with the other. For both of them, flowing out from the same divine well-spring, come together in some fashion to form one thing, and move towards the same goal….Thus it comes about that the Church does not draw her certainty about all revealed truths from the holy Scriptures alone.Hence, both Scripture and Tradition must be accepted and honoured with equal feelings of devotion and reverence” (Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation, Chapter 2, 9, p.682)
BIBLE TEACHING- holy Scriptures as all sufficient and sole basis of doctrine and practice.
PSALM 119: 137-144,” [137] Righteous art thou, O LORD, and upright are thy judgments.
[138] Thy testimonies that thou hast commanded are righteous and very faithful.
[139] My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy words.
[140] Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.
[141] I am small and despised: yet do not I forget thy precepts.
[142] Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
[143] Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet thy commandments are my delights.
[144] The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.”
PSALM 12: 6-7, “[6] The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
[7] Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”
JOHN 5:39, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”
JOHN 8:31-32, “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
MATTHEW 24:35, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
JOHN 17:14-19, “[14] I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
[15] I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
[16] They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
[17] Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
[18] As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
[19] And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.”
2 TIMOTHY 3:15-17, “[15] And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
[16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
[17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
2 PETER 3:1-3, “[1] This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
[2] That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
[3] Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,”
  2. THE FALSE SACRAMENTAL GOSPEL OF ROMANISM DECEIVING PEOPLE TO BELONG TO THE CHURCH OF ROMAN CATHOLICISM FOR SALVATION THROUGH THE SEVEN SACRAMENTS
    a. VATICAN II, ON THE SACRED LITURGY: “Just as Christ was sent by the Father so also he sent the apostles….that they might preach the Gospel to every creature and proclaim that the Son of God by his death and resurrection had freed us from the power of Satan and from death, and brought us into the Kingdom of the Father. But he also willed that the work of salvation which they preached SHOULD BE SET IN TRAIN THROUGH THE SACRIFICE AND SACRAMENTS around which the entire liturgical(ritualistic)mlife revolves” (VATICAN II, Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, Chap, I,I, 5,6, pp. 23-24).
“The seven sacraments are the necessary means established by Christ through which His redeeming, life-giving, sanctifying grace is imparted to individual souls. You must centre your life upon the sacraments established by Christ if you want to save your soul, means of salvation…The sacraments are the source of your real life, the divine life that will unite you with God in this world and eternity. Let nothing make you think that you can get along without the sacraments. Without them your soul must die. ….If you don’t receive the sacraments at all, you don’t receive grace. If you don’t receive them properly, that is, if you receive them seldom and with little devotion, you receive less grace” ( L.G. Lovasik , THE EUCHARIST IN CATHOLIC Life, pp. 14-15).
“For it is through Christ’s Catholic Church alone, which is the universal help towards salvation, that the fullness of the means of salvation can be obtained. It was to the apostolic college alone of which Peter is the head, that we believe that our Lord entrusted all the blessings of the New Covenant, in order to establish on earth the one Body of Christ into which all those should be fully incorporated who belong in any way to the people of God” (Vatican II, Decree on Ecumenism, chapter 1, 3, p. 415).

BIBLE TEACHING ON SALVATION:

a. Salvation is through the name of the Lord Jesus Christ not through the name of any church.
ACTS 4:12, “[10] Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
[11] This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
[12] Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
ROMANS 10:9-11,“[9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
[10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
[11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”
PHILIPPIANS 2:5-11,“[5] Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
[6] Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
[7] But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
[8] And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
[9] Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
[10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
[11] And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
JOHN 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
3.THE FALSE AUTHORITY OF THE POPE AND BEING THE FALSE SUCCESSOR OF CHRIST ON EARTH.
a. VATICAN II on Papacy:
” The Roman Pontiff , by reason of his office as Vicar of Christ, namely, and as pastor of the entire church, has full, supreme and universal power over the whole Church, a power which he can always exercise unhindered”
“The Roman Pontiff, head of the college of bishops, enjoys this infallibility in virtue of his office, when, as supreme pastor and teacher of all the faithful….he proclaims in an absolute decision a doctrine pertaining to faith and morals…..
(Vatican Council II-The Conciliar and Post Conciliar Documents, 1975, Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, chap. 3,22,25 p. 344).
b. New York Catechism, cited by Loraine Boetnner and David Cloud, Roman Catholicism, and Defense-Advanced Bible Study Series. respectively):
“The pope takes the place of Christ on earth….By divine right the pope has the supreme and full power in faith and morals over each and every pastor and his flock. He is the true Vicar of Christ, the head of the entire church, the father and teacher of all Christians. He is the infallible ruler, the founder of dogmas, the author of and judge of councils; the universal ruler of truth, the arbiter of the world, the supreme judge of heaven and earth, the judge of all, being judged by no one, God himself on earth”.
BIBLE TEACHING ON THE AUTHORITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND BEING THE TRUE SUCCESSOR OF CHRIST ON EARTH NOT THE POPES
JOHN 14:26, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things. and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
JOHN 15:26,27, “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me; and ye shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.”
JOHN 16:7-14,“[7] Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
[8] And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
[9] Of sin, because they believe not on me;
[10] Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
[11] Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
[12] I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
[13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
[14] He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”

PART II- ON APOSTLE PETER’S TEACHINGS AGAINST ROMAN CATHOLICISM UNDER THE SEARCHLIGHT OF THE HOLY SCRIPTURES
by Dr. Othello O. Caturan

  1. Apostle Peter declared himself in his letter as an apostle (sent one) and servant of Jesus Christ not as Pope or Vicar of Christ on earth.
    1 Peter 1:1; I Peter 5:1 and 2 Peter 1:1
  2. He taught that people are saved being elected, chosen, begotten and born again through faith in the precious promises and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and His resurrection and the sanctifying power; absolutely not through church membership and personal works neither church sacraments given to adherents or followers.
    I Peter 1:2-9; 2 Peter 1: 1-5
  3. He stated that faith is not represented by any visual image representation but seeing the invisible Christ through the eye of faith on the precious blood of Christ and word of God making us born-again.
    I Peter 1:8; 19-23; 2 Peter 2:16-21
  4. He instructed all believers to be holy in all manner of conversation in life because God is holy but the lives of the popes in the Middle Ages were immoral and unholy and wicked based on historical records.
    1 Peter 1:14-18; 2 Peter 3: 10-14
  5. He established the teaching that the Word of God is the basis whereby the Gospel of Christ is preached and not by the Roman Catholic church and its Popes.
    1 Peter 1:23-25; 2 Peter 3:1-2
  6. He exhorted all believers to grow spiritually based on desiring the very Word of God not on the ceremonialism of the 7 sacraments performed by the Roman catholic priests.
    1 Peter 2:2; 2 Peter 1:3-10
  7. He believed and instructed true believers as holy priests to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God and not as Roman Catholic priests performing the Eucharistic Mass for the remissions ands absolution of sins.
    I Peter 2:4-5; 2 Peter 2: 1-3
  8. He ascribed Christ as the rock of offence and stone of stumbling, the chief cornerstone, the foundation of our faith and not his being the pope or rock of the Roman Catholic Church.
    1 Peter 2:6-8; 2 Peter 3:18
  9. He believed and passed the teaching to the true believers that we have a salvation now as God’s people who obtained mercy which is a radical contrast to Roman Catholics who do good works to get salvation through sacramental works before and after death.
    1 Peter 2:9-10; 2 Peter 3: 13-14
  10. He expounded the sufferings of Christ as our example to follow rather do something that are wicked and unrighteous acts which are based on damnable heresies of false teachers, and the wicked and murderous Inquisitions an crusades of the Roman catholic church.
    1 Peter 2:15-25; 2 Peter 2: 1-22
  11. He reminded true believers to give primary emphasis on the words or writings of the prophets and the apostles and not the human traditions of the popes and its teachings which are non-apostolic or anti-Biblical.
    1 Peter 1:22-23; 2 Peter 3:1-3
  12. He taught clearly that water baptism is a figure or symbol of our salvation not the cause of our salvation which is taught by Roman Catholic Church; but that salvation is through believing the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
    1 Peter 4:21-22; 2 Peter 1:3-4
  13. He advocated the ministry of marriage among true believers-husband and wife relationship and not the so-called priestly celibacy of the Roman Catholic priesthood.
    1 Peter 3:1-7; 2 Peter 2:12-15
  14. He encouraged true prayers unto God based on the Lord’s will and promises rather prayers through the rosary and prayers addressed to the dead saints as taught by Roman Catholics.
    1 Peter 3:7; 1 Peter 4:1-7; 1 Peter 5:7; 2 Peter 3:13
  15. He directed and enjoined the true believers to humble before the Almighty Creator and not to act as Lord’s over God’s heritage like the false teachers, the popes past and present. 1 PETER 5:6

III- THE FALSE TEACHINGS ON MARY BY ROMAN CATHOLICISM
by Dr. Othello O. Caturan

ROMANISM ON MARY:WHY ROMAN CATHOLICS ARE WRONG ABOUT THEIR DOGMA ON MARY IN LIGHT OF THE SCRIPTURES?

  1. THE DOGMA OF IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF MARY AND HER PERPETUAL VIRGINITY AND ASCENSION TO HEAVEN- Any Question , p.67; Vatican II documents quoted from David Cloud, Way of Life Encyclopedia of Bible &Christianity, 2002, p.500-501: “The Immaculate Conception-or the fact that Mary was conceived without the stain of original sin-is a doctrine of the faith contained implicitly[meaning that this doctrine is not actually in the Bible] in Holy Scripture. The Holy Ghost did not express it in so many words; but he deposited it in some Biblical statements from which, like a seed, it grew up in the living Church of Christ until it reached its full -size dimension. Could the mother of the Saviour, sharing in her Son’s victory, be, even for a moment under the power of Satan? She had to be free from original sin, Finally, in 1854, Pope Pius IX declared it a revealed doctrine-one of those that have to be believed by all who share the faith of the church (Any Question?, p.67)”
“The Immaculate Virgin (was) preserved free from all stain of original sin: (Vatican documents, “Dogmatic Constitution on the Church).”
Holy Bible: Mary confessed herself a sinner who needs a Saviour. ” And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.” LUKE 1:46-47. All are sinners including Mary according to the apostle Paul in ROMANS 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Mary did not continue to be a virgin but had children after Jesus birth because of Joseph her husband. MATTHEW 13:55-56, “Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?”
Mary did not ascend to heaven as taught by Roman Catholics but a blatant lie not found in the Holy Bible. From the Question Box, the following reads: “The doctrine has never been defined by the Church, although its wide acceptance since 6th century renders it a certain doctrine, that can not be denied by Catholics without rashness. It can not be proved from the Bible, or from contemporary historical witnesses, but it rests on such solid theological principles, that many Bishops have written the Apostolic See, requesting its definition as a dogma of the faith…..It certainly seems most fitting that the body of the Immaculate Mother of God should not taste corruption and that it should share in the triumph of her Son, the Risen Christ. The Question Box, p.361”).
“The doctrine of the Assumption appears for the first time in the seventh century. It was then based upon some writings of the third and fourth centuries, which had long before been declared heretical. Additions had been made to some manuscripts to give the doctrine greater credibility. These additions were known to be fraudulent, but the doctrine was by then so widely accepted that no one objected to them. On All Saints’ Day, November 1, 1950, the pope formally commanded all Catholics everywhere to receive the doctrine without doubt, on pain of excommunication.” ROMAN CATHOLICISM IN THE LIGHT OF SCRIPTURE by F.C.H Dreyer and E. Weller, pp.194-195.
  2. THE DOGMA THAT MARY IS THE MOTHER OF GOD- Any Question, p.67; Vatican II Documents, The Dogmatic Constitution on the Church:
“Mary is really the mother of Jesus; and since Jesus is God, Mary is the mother God. It is therefore, correct to say that Mary is mother of her creator (Any Question, p.67)”.
“Joined to Christ the head and in communion with all his saints, the faithful must be in the first place reverence the memory of the glorious Mother of God and of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Vatican II documents,”Dogmatic Constitution on the Church”).y commanded all Catholics everywhere to receive the doctrine without doubt, on pain of excommunication.”
Holy Bible: In the book of Acts written after the resurrection of the Risen Christ, there is no mention of Mary being accorded by early Christians as Mother of God. The book of Revelation describing the coming glory of the Lord in heavenly places never mention any reference to Mary as the Mother of God.
In teachings of the apostle Paul and Peter and John in their letters never mention Mary as On All Saints’ Day, November 1, 1950, the pope formally commanded all Catholics everywhere to receive the doctrine without doubt, on pain of excommunication.” ROMAN CATHOLICISM IN THE LIGHT OF SCRIPTURE by F.C.H Dreyer and E. Weller, pp.194-195. the Mother of God and in any way given reverence and exaltation as Co-redeemer /Co-mediator with the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul wrote inIn teachings of the apostle Paul and Peter and John in their letters never mention Mary as On All Saints’ Day, November 1, 1950, the pope formally commanded all Catholics everywhere to receive the doctrine without doubt, on pain of excommunication.” ROMAN CATHOLICISM IN THE LIGHT OF SCRIPTURE by F.C.H Dreyer and E. Weller, pp.194-195. the Mother of God and in any way given reverence and exaltation as Co-redeemer /Co-mediator with the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul wrote in 1 TIMOTHY 2:5, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus.”
God is infinite and the Creator of heaven and earth has no end and no beginning that the dogma of Mary the Mother of God is outright false and wicked teaching foreign and not found in the holy Scripture.MICAH 5:2 and ISAIAH 9:6 will disprove the dogma that Mary should be called the Mother of God.
3.THE DOGMA THAT MARY CAN HELP FOR MAN’S SALVATION AS A CO-REDEEMER IS BLANDLY FALSE AND BLASPHEMOUS.
Devotion to Mary because of this dogma is idolatry and abomination to the Lord. The Lord Jesus Christ is the sole Intercessor, Redeemer and Saviour of all sinners who come to the Risen Saviour. ACTS 4:12, 2 TIMOTHY 3:15; HEBREWS 7:22-26
“[10] Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
[11] This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
[12] Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” ACTS 4:10-12
2 TIMOTHY 3:15, “[15] And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
[16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
[17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
” [22] By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
[23] And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
[24] But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
[25] Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
    [26] For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
[27] Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
[28] For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.” HEBREWS 7:22-28
